The Pixie Puff Doll Collection Introduces Dolls with Coily, Textured 4C Curls

Just in time for National CROWN Day, one of the largest Black-owned toy start-ups, Purpose Toys, launched the Pixie Puff Doll Collection. This Tightly-Coiled Natural-Hair Fashion Doll line celebrates short and chic natural hairstyles, specifically coily 4C textured hair.

The Naturalistas dolls are glamorous and they help kids to see themselves in the dolls they play with, and the Pixie Puff Collection shows off one of the most common hair types in the African American community. "Whereas there is an over-representation of long straight hair and long loose curls across the Black doll category, the reality is that many African American children actually have gorgeous tightly coiled hair," said Purpose Toys CEO, DeeDee Wright-Ward.

CROWN Day is a holiday that celebrates the 2019 signing of the CROWN Act into legislation in California to outlaw Natural-Hair discrimination.
