The Pine Flat Residence by Faulkner Architects is a rebuilt off-grid home in Healdsburg, California, designed after the original structure was destroyed in the 2019 Kincade Fire. The Pine Flat Residence by Faulkner Architects reuses approximately 90 percent of the existing concrete foundation and walls, reducing excavation while preserving embodied energy. A rectangular, shed-like form sits within the previous footprint, extending outward in select areas to create elements such as a sculptural entry step and a light well.

The house is clad in a non-combustible exterior shell and incorporates wildfire mitigation features including sliding ember screens and sprinkler systems positioned above outdoor decks. The layout places primary living spaces on a single level, supporting long-term accessibility with ramped entry and provision for a future elevator. Off-grid systems include upgraded solar panels, battery storage, and on-site water management that captures and retains all stormwater.
