A building with an interest-provoking perforated aluminum facade was designed by architecture office Jestico + Whiles for the University of Cambridge in England. The practice was tasked with completing a three-story educational facility that was part of a master plan for reimagining the West Cambridge site.
Since the building was meant to be utilized by faculty and students of the university, as well as by neighboring institutions and the wider community, Jestico + Whiles prioritized interaction within the design. The firm promoted "a versatile design that is suited to a range of activities." The building houses various social spaces (equipped with a cafeteria and a bar), study spaces, a library, a paved outdoor area, and even a green space to promote wellness and connection with nature.
