At first glance, the latest works of art by Patrick McDonough may not look like art at all. Some people might scoff at what appears to be lawn chairs hung on up on the white walls of a gallery. Yet for those who take the time to really look at Patrick McDonough's creations, they'll note that these aren't lawn chairs at all. Instead, they are artworks inspired by the retro backyard staple.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin, and based in Washington, DC, Patrick McDonough cleverly deceives people not only through the use of common patterns, but also the classic fold of the outdoor furniture. Nevertheless, Patrick McDonough also seems to address abstract paintings with the frames of the chairs mimicking the frames of canvases.
