Ajax Lee is an art director and photographer based in Taipei, Taiwan, whose latest project reimagines some of fashion's most iconic outfits as paper doll clothing.
As the artist explains, his original plan was to use a 2016 Spring/Summer collection for his creations, however he opted for a diverse range of looks that begin from the 1930s instead. Included in the series of paper doll clothing is Christian Dior's 'The New Look' from 1947, Elsa Schiaparelli's 1937 'Lobster Dress,' Issey Miyake's bizarre 1994 'Flying Saucer' and a cut-out swimsuit design from Rudi Gernreich in 1971.
In order to create the pieces, Ajax Lee combines cartoon-like photography with the artistic paper doll clothing -- both elements working together for a modernized yet accurate tribute series.
