Responsible Driving Reservations

OpenTable and Heineken USA Partnered to Reward Designated Drivers

Based on the insight that 71% of Americans would be more likely to make a safe ride home plan if they were prompted at time of reservation booking, OpenTable and Heineken USA are partnering for the launch of a pilot program that lets diners choose a DD at the time of booking. Coming first to Houston, Texas, this first-of-its-kind initiative invites diners to book a table through a dedicated OpenTable landing page, and when they appoint a DD, their sober friend will be rewarded with perks for their responsible choice.

What's more, with survey data showing that 64% of people would volunteer to be the designated driver more often if restaurants and venues offered to pay for their non-alcoholic drinks, Heineken USA is picking up the Heineken 0.0 tab for select Houston designed drivers, and providing rideshare vouchers. "By elevating the DD experience, we want to raise awareness that opting out of alcohol doesn't mean opting out of the fun. Our pioneering Heineken 0.0 ensures 100% of the social connection and zero judgment," said Anne de Graaf, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Heineken USA.
