Simone Lueck Hosts an Open Casting Call for Famous Cinematic Roles

Brooklyn-based photographer Simone Lueck hosted an open casting call to fill some of cinema's most iconic roles in his latest series 'American Movie.'

Unconcerned with Hollywood's standards of perfection, Lueck focused on the charisma, desire and aspirations of his subjects. Whether searching for the next Marlene Dietrich in Berlin, or seeking a modern-day Dorothy of Oz in Texas, Lueck's photographs allow the subject, regardless of their age or gender, to transform into the coveted role with ease. The series shows the beauty behind all the struggling hopeful's that "don't get the part."

American Movie offers its subjects the same form of escapism that going to the movies provides, except for the fact that they have been transformed from passive viewers to active agents in the process.
