OnLive is Poised to Make Separate Game Consoles Obsolete
Marissa Brassfield — March 26, 2009 — Tech
OnLive is an innovative video game system that streams nearly every game online, making the process of purchasing several pricey video game consoles obsolete. OnLive will be launched by the end of 2009 and poses a perfect credit-crunch alternative for avid video gamers and parents of kids who like to play video games.
“We’ve cleared the last remaining hurdle for the videogames industry: effective online distribution,” said OnLive founder and chief executive Steve Perlman to the AFP. “By putting the value back into the games themselves and removing the reliance on expensive, short-lived hardware, we are dramatically shifting the economics of the industry.”
