Social Media Emotion Art

One Million Dreams Represents People's Feelings in Real-Time

One Million Dreams represents people's emotions from social media in a visually stimulating manner. The installation was done by Art is Open Source, and demonstrates just how volatile people from all over the world feel throughout the day.

According to DesignBoom, "the generative video lasts approximately 200 hours and depicts, instant by instant, an entire year of ‘dreams’ as captured from various online networks in real-time – a global library of how individuals feel and what their hopes are." This chart could be used for more than just art, but also to detect the general happiness levels of people from different regions and countries. In doing so, researchers could then dig deeper to see the root cause of these issues, and put certain sanctions in place to improve the overall conditions in various spots.
