Goldsmiths Graduate Olivia Clemence Creates Nostalgic Fragrances

The senses are a powerful thing when it comes to nostalgia as Olivia Clemence explores. A design alumna from Goldsmiths University of London, she concentrates on the power of scent. Essentially, Olivia Clemence has found a way to bottle the scents of such landmarks as the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham and the Southbank Center in London. Often displaying her bottled scents at public events and expositions, Olivia Clemence is even able to concoct a fragrance on the spot at the request of her audience.

Olivia Clemence was inspired by an article in London’s Sunday Times. The article was about a woman who held onto her father's shirt to remember him by. It nevertheless delved deeper, suggesting, "By extracting the essential elements that are embedded within the garment--such as scent, colour and DNA--the original form would become obsolete."
