Ocean of Flowers by Li Hongbo is Inspired by Chinese Festival Decor

The Ocean of Flowers art installation is made up of a variety of vibrant papercrafts that are as colorful and full of life as a blooming garden. Although a garden would have been a great source of inspiration, the installation was influenced by the honeycomb constructions of traditional festive decorations in China. Much more intricate, the sculptures in Ocean of Flowers are true works of art.

Created by Beijing-based book designer Li Hongbo, the same man who created mind-boggling accordion-like sculptures of heads, the Ocean of Flowers art installation illustrates his statement, "Paper—you can never predict what it will become in the end." Full of abstract creativity and imagination, the installation showcases his skill with paper on a truly spectacular level.
