Novel Multi-Functional Urban Kiosks

SANTEDICOLA is a Novel Urban Initiative in Rome

SANTEDICOLA represents a novel urban initiative in Rome's San Giovanni district. Coonceived as a revitalized kiosk that integrates retail, exhibition, and community functions, the project was developed by Gaetano Orefice with design contributions from the studio Dispensabile and Cantiere Galli Design.

As a novel urban initiative, SANTEDICOLA transforms the traditional newsstand archetype into an octagonal architectural volume that serves as a micro-gallery and cultural venue. The space features custom-crafted lacquered wood shelving and counters, specialized flooring, and a collection of contemporary furniture and lighting from recognized design brands. Its programming includes temporary art displays, creative workshops, and literary events, alongside a curated inventory of publications from independent and international presses. The selection extends to complementary merchandise, including photographic equipment, city maps, beverages, and ceramic objects.
