The French Brand NodOn Has Released Communicative Smoke Detectors

Known for its smart home tech products, NodOn recently unveiled the EYE system, a smoke detector that is compatible with the brand's Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus technology.

The device is "chamber-less," and is able to sample smoke in its surroundings before it even reaches the detector. It uses detection technology with two LEDs, with the infrared LED reporting obstruction and the blue LED determining whether or not that obstruction is smoke. This new technology has two benefits, with the first being highly precise and accurate smoke detection, and the second being that it is able to avoid the false alarms that can often occur with traditional alarm systems.

The NodOn smoke detector is connected, allowing users to control it and assess issues from their smartphones.
