The Nissan BladeGlider Sports Butterfly Doors and an Atypical Design

Chances are that the Nissan Leaf is feeling a bit self-conscious about its looks with the Nissan BladeGlider about to debut. The BladeGlider is an electric sportscar set to debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. It has a futuristic look and design of a concept car, but the Japanese automaker has labeled it "more than a concept."

The Nissan BladeGlider has an unusual shape, with the two front wheels placed close together while the rear wheels see more traditional spacing. The Nissan BladeGlider is powered by four in-wheel electric motors and has a one-two seating configuration similar to the McLaren F1. The interior is futuristic, as expected, but what's not expected is the way the driver's seat moves toward whichever door is being opened while the steering wheel simultaneously retracts. You can see the Nissan BladeGlider in partial action in the video, here.
