The NIKE Air Force 1 sculpture begins with the shape of the original sneaker, but the further back along the shoe you look, the more interesting it becomes. Basketball players and hoops can be seen, as well as an airplane and even a man climbing to the top of the Empire State Building. It's tough to tell whether these items directly influenced Nike, or whether they provided some sort of symbolic inspiration. Either way the 3D-printed sculpture is an inspiration to all artists from various backgrounds exploring this type of carefully crafted design.
