The 'Nightlight' shed has been designed by Fabric Design as a functional yet stylish structure located on a property in Akaroa, New Zealand that acts as a vibrant beacon in after dark scenarios. The shed comes in at 10-square-meters and is surrounded by kãnuka trees on a small clearing to have it stand as a modern, hidden structure that functions at present as a place for storing essentials. The shed has been created ahead of the development of the property to act as the first stepping stone towards a larger family compound.
Fabric Design spoke further on the 'Nightlight' shed saying, "Rather than locating this building out of sight like a typical shed or using it only for its services, Nightlight has been reimagined as a light sculpture that will proudly be seen from the future outdoor living space. The filtered light seen glowing between the slats at night is a contrasting aesthetic to the minimalist facade seen throughout the day."
