Sleek Timber-Constructed Sheds

Fabric Designs the Nightlight Shed in Akaroa, New Zealand

Architecture studio Fabric designs the Nightlight, which is a shed located in New Zealand's Akaroa. It is wrapped in a sleek timber material in the form of slats that are inspired by the treeline that surrounds the location. The shed measures 10 square meters and is nestled in kãnuka trees.

Additionally, the shed turns into a light sculpture when it is dark outside, hence the name. The compact shed is made to store household items that are to be built in the future. It glows with the slatted design and has a mono-pitched form that is clear in nature and constructed from polycarbonate materials. It rests slightly above ground on an elevated concrete foundation to rest over the sloped ground.
