New York City's TapIt program allows water bottle toters to fill up at cafes, restaurants and other commercial locations with water spouts, free of charge.

We've talked about New York City's encouragement to citizens to drink tap water instead of buying bottled water (remember the Tap’dNY campaign?), so we're thrilled to be following up with TapIt's successful initiative.

Thanks to innovative developers, there's even a TapIt iPhone app that lets thirsty people in the Big Apple track down the nearest participating TapIt partner.
