Shaved Heads as Beauty Rebellions

Eccentric Model Alice Dellal

— August 26, 2008 — Fashion
We have seen the demise of flawless beauty within the modeling industry. The Gisele Bundchens and Naomi Campbells of the fashion world have been replaced by models with quirky characters, like Agyness Deyn, with her boyish looks or Kate Moss with her rocky, roller coaster persona. A grungy, almost dirty look has become popular over femininity and perfection.

However, Alice Dellal, the model and IT girl of the moment, surpasses this smudged eyeliner, been-out-boozing-all-night, grunge glamour. Dellal's straggly bleached hair is parted to reveal her shaven head. She wears black leather bomber jackets, extremely ragged, ripped denim hot pants and laddered tights. Hobo chic is merely her style preference. Dellal is the daughter of a British billionaire and gets her looks from her Brazilian supermodel mother. She is the face of Mango and is often seen sipping champagne in London and Rio.

"Alice Dellal is a rule-breaker, and the fashion crowd love her for it," says.

She is popular because of her eccentricity, confidence and individuality. Models like Kate Moss are not rebellious enough anymore. Youth are aspiring to look as outrageous as possible. And so the fashion industry is starting to employ their models with this criteria in mind.
