Duplo has commissioned artist Nate Smith to create minimalist depictions of hit television shows using nothing but Duplo blocks.

A variety of characters from shows as disparate as Prison Break to Scrubs are covered. The Nate Smith Duplo sculptures manage to faithfully recreate such characters in block form. Granted, it would be hard to discern what exactly a column of black blocks represents without a hint. However, when one reads the corresponding text, "Men in Black," the portrait is obvious.

The Nate Smith Duplo sculptures were born in response to LEGO's block-rendered versions of famous cartoons. The LEGO campaign was successful, so why not apply the same method to Duplo? Hopefully these LEGO and Duplo will continue to render pop culture in building blocks.
