The 'myurbangreen' Campaign Encourages More Urban Greenery

The @myurbangreen campaign is an initiative from Marks & Spencer and environmental charity organization Groundwork. Together, they hope to transform urban areas in the UK by introducing greener living spaces and connecting city dwellers with their environments by encouraging them to take ownership of their surroundings and become more actively involved in green space activities.

According to the Groundwork site, the @myurbangreen campaign will encourage people to help shape the "future development, maintenance and management of their local Greener Living Spaces." The goal of the @myurbangreen campaign is to, by September 2012, execute at least 850 green space activities and motivate 135,000 people to participate in the initiative by helping to maintain the green spaces, plant trees and contribute to clean-up events in the community.
