Microwave-Compatible RFID Tags

Tageos Makes Food Packaging Safer for Microwave Use

Tageos is extending item-level food tracking with microwave-compatible RFID tags designed to remain suitable for packaged foods that may be heated before consumption. Its new EOS-450 MW M830 and EOS-450 MW UX RAIN RFID inlays use specialized antenna designs engineered to resist arcing and sparking under defined microwave conditions. The slim tags also provide extended read ranges and memory capabilities while supporting applications such as inventory management, expiration tracking, loss prevention and self-checkout.

The development addresses a practical barrier as RFID adoption expands across food retail and quick-service restaurants. Making tags compatible with microwaveable packaging can allow retailers and food brands to maintain item-level visibility throughout more of a product's lifecycle without requiring labels to be removed before heating. Tageos is also building additional microwave-compatible products, positioning the technology for broader packaging formats as retailers increase their use of connected inventory systems.
