Every day we are surrounded by obnoxious sounds, from car alarms and blaring sirens on fire trucks to doorbells and your neighbors' invading hip hop music. The Musical Kettle, by Naoki Kawamotom, adds a little more noise to your day by playing (what could be) your new favorite tune.
The kettle is part of a project series called ‘re-design soundscape’ and whistles a tune when the kettle starts to boil.
Implications - Any company seeking to capitalize on the newfound premium placed on design originality would be wise to invest in a product that slightly alters a traditional household appliance. By providing consumers with an unorthodox form of a familiar product, the company stands to benefit from consumers who seek excitement in their daily surroundings.
