A good museum guide should be able to answer frequently asked questions and tell engaging stories that capture the interests of visitors—and this is exactly what Pepper the robot is set to do for The Smithsonian, and more.
The robotic museum guide will be introduced to six locations to help lead tours and in particular, draw interest to galleries that tend to get less traffic than others. Pepper also boasts the ability to dance, play games, collect a limited amount of information, with guests being able to naturally interact with the bot using their voice and gestures.
Pepper by SoftBank Robotics has proven to be one of the most advanced and adaptable robots seen to date, as the bot is now in use by hotel chains, fast food eateries, banks, hairdressing salons and more.
