Facebook has introduced a new feature that will allow users easily to export multimedia content, including photos and videos, from their account into Dropbox, Koofr and Google Photos. User will be required to re-affirm their password before transferring multimedia content, in order to ensure user security. Additionally, the file transfer will be encrypted. Users can transfer files through the ‘Your Facebook Information’ tab which is located in settings.
The social media platform created new features as part of the Data Transfer Project, which will attempt to streamline the process for users to transfer data. A number of major technology companies are also participating in the Data Transfer Project, including Google, Microsoft as well as Twitter.
