This new Mountain Dew commemorative can has been shown off by PepsiCo as a celebratory take on the brand's original product from 1948. The product is being offered as part of a limited-edition bundle that includes the retro-branded can itself that features the heritage story of the soda for fans to read as they sip. The product is being offered for a limited time on the brand's TikTok Shop for just $0.05 as a nod to the original cost of the soda many decades ago.
Vice President of Marketing for Mountain Dew at PepsiCo Beverages US Michael Smith spoke on the Mountain Dew commemorative can saying, "Since 1948, Mountain Dew has been defined by bold spirit, unrelentless grit and ambitious energy – qualities that continue to drive the brand forward today. This commemorative can is about bringing that origin story to life, paying homage to our roots as an American Original and giving fans a meaningful way to celebrate Dew history.”

- Ultra-low commemorative pricing blends brand mythology with promotional commerce, making historical price points a novel mechanism for fan engagement and viral demand.
- Social Commerce Exclusives
- Limited drops on platforms like TikTok Shop turn everyday consumer goods into culture-driven events where scarcity, storytelling, and instant purchasing converge.
Who This Affects Most
- Beverage Marketing
- Heritage-led limited editions are reshaping soft drink promotion by positioning cans and bundles as memorabilia rather than standard refreshment products.
- Collectibles Retail
- Branded consumer packaged goods increasingly function as affordable collectibles, expanding the market for fan merchandise beyond entertainment and sports categories.
