Incentive-Based Fitness Apps

This Gatorade Program Gives Users Motivation to Work Out

In order to increase motivation to work out, Gatorade set up a campaign called #SponsoredByGatorade. This initiative has users connect all of their wearable fitness devices, so that they can be rewarded for each sweat-inducing activity they partake in.

Within the #SponsoredByGatorade system, there are four tiers of rewards to collect. At level one, users are eligible to receive free songs to pump them up. As they earn more Gatorade points, more perks become available, like free equipment from Gatorade and tickets to sporting events. At the highlest level of rewards, Gatorade chooses the highest performing athletes to star in a series of multi-week advertisements.

To turn peer pressure into a powerful motivator, the app also allows users to work out in tandem to collect special team bonuses. This convergence of wearable technology, extreme athletics and incentives for working out make a winning sports rewards system.
