Collectible Anniversary Coins

The Monopoly 90th UK 50p Coin Marks Board Game History

The Monopoly 90th UK 50p coin marks board game history as the Royal Mint’s commemorative release celebrating 90 years of Monopoly. The design features Mr Monopoly, property cards, familiar game tokens, and a lenticular “GO” sign that changes to reveal the Monopoly M symbol when tilted. It stands out as the first UK coin to honor a board game, highlighting the cultural reach of Monopoly across generations.

The coin is issued in multiple finishes, from Brilliant Uncirculated to Silver Proof Colour and limited Gold Proof editions. A large silver top hat installation will appear in London as part of a treasure hunt to win one of 100 exclusive versions. The reverse design by Bella Biggs captures the playful spirit of the game, while Martin Jennings’ portrait appears on the obverse. Combining rarity, craftsmanship, and nostalgia, the release appeals to both seasoned collectors and Monopoly fans.
