Freitag is moving its tarp-bag formula into a cleaner look with Reference, a set of four bags for people who want a quieter everyday option than the label's usual bright styles. The Swiss maker builds the line from chosen truck tarps in single-color finishes, giving its upcycled material a pared-back silhouette.
Each piece is produced in short runs with partners in Europe, keeping the bags closer to small-batch accessories than standard repeat units. A removable repair pack in matching tarp includes the bag's lining and thread, so an owner can patch wear later instead of retiring it.
Reference starts selling Thursday as Freitag reaches for buyers who do not connect with its longtime colorful aesthetic. With 30 stores worldwide, about 200 retail partners, and repair and resale services in its network, the line gives the company a calmer entry point without dropping its circular model.
