Fast Food-Featuring Artwork

Rebecca Rütten's Modern Renaissance Paintings Incorporate Junk Food

This series of modern renaissance paintings merges the "eroticism, presentation and charisma" of the Late Renaissance period with fast food culture. In the same way Italian and Dutch artists in this period of art history used lower and middle class people as subjects, German photographer Rebecca Rütten took pictures of people posing with modern era fast food items. Contemporary Pieces comments on how expensive health food is and yet one can buy a large amount of fast food at a considerably lower cost.

The modern renaissance paintings feature food items such as pizza, fried chicken, tacos, submarine sandwiches and (of course) a variety of offerings from McDonalds. Prints from the Contemporary Pieces series are also available for purchase with a golden frame.
