Female-Marketed Mobile Dating Apps

'Swoon' Updates to Cater for the Way Girls Look for Dates

An app by Tagged is remodeling its mobile dating app 'Swoon' to resonate better with its female users. Its interface is more appropriate for its 50% population of women and is also being built by women.

The social dating site specializes in helping users meet new people, find out what friends they might have in common and introduces strangers based on mutual interests. By scrolling through pictures of members of the opposite sex -- swiping as to whether or not you're interested -- you can find out who seems like a good candidate for a date, and then message each other. In a way the app is modeled after the concept of 'speed dating.' Other new additions to the app are its larger photos, and 'Look Back' feature, which allows users to give people they accidentally rejected a second chance by shaking the phone.

Another new feature targeted specifically to women is a messaging service that allows ladies to chat with their friends privately about possible matches. 'Swoon' also aims to move beyond other mobile dating apps which focus only on hookups. With the new female-geared approach, the hope is that the app will encourage better relationships.
