Facebook's mental health resource hub arrives ahead of World Mental health day on October 10th. The newly announced hub will serve as a space for users to receive support on a variety of topics including stress, grief, self-harm and suicide. This move arrives on the heels of criticism regarding unreliable information on the social media platform that can cloud a users judgement and negatively effect their behaviours.
According to a representative, updates will also be added on Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram, with a “digital stress management guide” becoming available to those in need. In addition to the technological updates, Facebook will also be launching a mental health show on its platform. hosted by Taraji P. Henson and Tracie Jade Jenkins, the show aims to “shine a spotlight on the challenging mental health issues facing us today.”
