MDA Space Ltd. introduced MDA Ventures, a strategic investment program focused on Canadian small and medium businesses developing space and defence technologies. Announced Aug. 27, 2026, the initiative is designed to strengthen Canada’s domestic industrial base and support technologies tied to national and allied defence priorities.
The program has identified 25 focus areas and will invest in companies developing capabilities that can help equip, sustain and modernize the Canadian Armed Forces and Allied Forces. Selected businesses will also gain access to expertise and industry ecosystems from MDA Space and 49North, along with potential opportunities to participate in future programs.
For Canadian founders and defence stakeholders, LaunchPad Ventures combines capital with access to established space and defence networks.
