Josh Sommers, a California-based artist and software engineer, spent years trying to develop and master an innovative form of mathematical photography based on formulas. While a couple of artists did point him in the right direction, it was his own sweat and toil which finally produced the mathematical photography equivalent of the Escher and Droste effect art he so admired.

Josh Sommers decided to share his tutorial on how to create mathematical photography, so others would not have to spend as much time as he did learning the technique. His generosity will mean that others will be able to introduce the recursive patterns and spiral effects of mathematical photography for truly unique art.
