Corning Incorporated, a materials manufacturer, has produced an astonishing corporate advertisement entitled ‘A Day Made of Glass.’ The marketing video makes sweeping prophecies about the manner in which smart glass technology will come to saturate our lives, from interactive stoves to bathroom mirrors that itemize your daily schedule.
The corporation is a specialist in producing ceramic and glass surfaces that are not only capable of streaming video and audio, but also boast the ability to network with nearby smart devices. If the YouTube comments are any indication (which they rarely are), most people are cautious about the perpetually plugged-in future that Corning promises. The hope is that society will eventually come to embrace the information cacophony that comes with ‘smart surfaces.’
Jim Clappin, president of Corning Glass Technologies, reiterates the vision that the corporate ad visualizes, saying, “We all want to be connected with what we want…when we want…anywhere…and with great ease. Corning’s innovations in glass will enable this journey to continue.”
