The Marble Arch Hill is currently under construction in central London. Commissioned by Westminster City Council, the hill is a viewpoint disguised by turf and sprawling trees. The goal is to draw people back to Oxford Street as the Coronavirus restrictions lift. The disguised hill will act as an attraction to visitors.
Designed by Dutch studio MVRDV, visitors will climb a staircase built through the inside of the artificial hill from its southern face. Once at the top of the hill, the viewpoint spans central London and down at the Marble Arch designed by architect John Nash. The triumphant arch is the focal point of the view, giving the hill its name. Upon descent, visitors will enter an event space inside the structure.
