KrisFlyer is Launching a Blockchain-Based Loyalty Wallet

KrisFlyer, the frequent flyer program of Singapore Airlines, is set to launch an innovative new loyalty wallet. The new innovation is specifically being touted as "a world-first blockchain-based airline loyalty digital wallet" that will make it possible for KrisFlyer members to use digital KrisFlyer miles with participating retail partners. The new KrisFlyer digital wallet app is to be released in about six months.

The upcoming app is part of what the airline calls its Digital Innovation Blueprint. As Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong describes, it aims to be "the world’s leading digital airline."

A growing number of consumers around the world are now expecting retailers to accept mobile-based digital wallets, with many consumers favoring wallets that feature built-in loyalty programs with easily redeemable rewards.
