Studio McW Update a London House with Some New Features

Studio McW recently updated a chic London house, providing it with some aesthetic flair and a spatial extension. The project boasts a new pitched-roofed volume at the back of the structure.

The London house is located in Willesden Green—an area that is in the city's Northwest part. The Clerkenwell-based studio was asked by the owners of the home to refresh their space. During the COVID-19 lockdowns in early 2020 and throughout 2021/2022, the couple worked from home and "grew to dislike using their kitchen, which was visually cut off from the rest of the house and the outdoors." Studio McW added two entrances to the new extension of the London house—one via the main home and the second, through a subtle entrance that can be accessed alongside a planted courtyard.
