Artful Pyramid Installations

Agnes Denes Installs the Living Pyramid in the Coachella Valley

Hungarian-American artist Agnes Denes has installed the Living Pyramid structure which is a tiered work of art at the Coachella Valley for the fifth edition of the Desert X exhibition. This is the first piece that is showcased for the festival -- it is a biennial event that highlights large-scale works in California.

Denes speaks about the design process to Dezeen, noting "This new work of The Living Pyramid is planted material, yet a new meaning. Transformed into blossoms, the Pyramid renews itself as evolution does to our species. It is not just planting, but planting the paradox, a structured edifice of soil and grain, not on a farm or field but in the heart of a busy mega-city or various parts of our world. It is planting the seed into soil and human minds."
