Live Classical Music Programs

OSM and Médecins Francophones Du Canada Merge Music and Healthcare

A collaborative initiative between the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) and Médecins francophones du Canada has been established to formally integrate live classical music into a community health framework. This program, titled 'La musique sur ordonnance' — which translates to Music on Prescription, enables participating physicians in Montreal to provide their patients with complimentary tickets to an OSM performance, effectively prescribing a cultural experience as a supplement to conventional medical care.

The live classical music program is running as a one-year pilot project and is founded on existing research that suggests engaging with music can offer measurable benefits for both mental and physical wellness. As part of the program's structure, participating patients will be asked to complete a survey after the concert. The data will be analyzed to assess the activity's impact and the feasibility of broader implementation.
