The Canadian Opera Company Features Free Public Events

The Canadian Opera Company is expanding Toronto’s fall cultural offerings with a free community celebration at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on September 27, inaugurating the company’s 2025/2026 season. Positioned alongside the city’s hallmark festivals and exhibitions, the event is designed to welcome the public into the world of opera through an open and immersive experience.

Attendees will be invited to "explore behind the scenes through guided tours, view archival costumes, stage props, and historical displays, and enjoy sneak-peek performances from upcoming productions." Highlights include selections from Roméo et Juliette, which will also serve as the official season opener later that evening. The program is complemented by interactive activities and refreshments to create a lively, accessible atmosphere.

Running through May 2026, the upcoming season balances familiar works with rediscoveries, including timeless favorites such as The Barber of Seville and the return of Werther, presented at the COC for the first time in thirty years.
