The Liutaly iV is a high-tech electric violin, designed by the noted Italian inventor and innovator Claudio Capponi, that is equipped with its very own amplified speaker system. It also has its own power source and can be used in conjunction with a docked smartphone running a whole array of music-creation apps, giving the user access to an infinite library of digital sounds.
What's interesting about the Liutaly iV is that it doesn't work with its own music-making app, but instead works with all the music-centric mobile apps already available. This gives users access to a wider library of sounds.
Ultimately, users of high-tech devices -- musical instruments and otherwise -- don't like to be restricted. By working with so many different apps, the Liutaly iV keeps users in charge.
