Studio Bright, an architectural firm headed by Melissa Bright, headed the design of an interesting linear house in Melbourne, Australia. The structure is located in the city's North Fitzroy district, which is home to many heritage buildings from the Victorian era. It occupies a long and narrow plot which, of course, came with its challenges.
Titled the 8 Yard House, Studio Bright found a way to creatively explore a modern and balanced linear house floorplan. The space contains "a sequence of eight courtyards and gardens" that enter into playful dialogue with the interior spaces.
Because of its innovative approach to design, Studio Bright's 8 Yard House is shortlisted for the 2022 Dezeen Awards in the urban house category.
