Caterham Cars is best known for creating exceptionally advanced lightweight sports cars that are also noteworthy for boasting a truly unique appearance and being lots of fun to ride, but the company has now made use of its technology to create a lightweight bicycle platform.
The company decided to venture into this area when it was approached by Reynolds Technology, itself known for making bicycle frame tubes of the highest quality, and ended up partnering design experts Simpact Engineering. The end result of the collaboration is a lightweight bicycle prototype that makes use of a special butted chassis that allows it to keep the weight low but performance high.
Interestingly, this lightweight bicycle technology could also be applied to other bigger vehicles.
