Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) will enjoy free lacrosse camps across Fraser Valley in the next couple of months. The first event is a half-day commitment, led by NCCP-certified coach Adam Smith, who will expand on the basics and skills of the sport. The lacrosse camp is open to youth with Indigenous ancestry, ages six to 13.
This programming is crucial in ensuring diversity and equality in the industry, as it offers support for minority communities. The free lacrosse camps are courtesy of the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council – Fraser Region.
In addition, there will also be coaching workshops, as well as other accessible sports camps like the eight-week ringette camp, hosted by Skwah First Nation in Chilliwack.
