K-Supermarket's Tripadvisor Listings Share a Taste of Food Culture

While traveling, a visit to the grocery store provides great insight into local life and food culture, leading Finnish grocery chain K-Supermarket to become the first to list multiple stores on Tripadvisor. This campaign was created in response to international food tourism research from Visit Finland, which found that food culture is of interest to international travellers—especially Germans and Japanese visitors.

In addition to positioning supermarkets as a worthy place for tourists to browse and shop, this K-Supermarket initiative highlights that every one of its locations is run by an independent retailer who tailors the range to local preferences. While one has rooftop beehives that produce ultra-local honey, another specializes in craft beers, incentivizing both residents and visitors to go to specific destinations for fresh experiences and product selections.
