Kotaro Horiuchi knows how to keep visitors entertained with artwork, especially with the Fusionner 1.0: Hole of Droplets Floating installation.
The design is set up to be like a floating membrane, with perforated holes in pieces of fabric drawn taught across a room. Visitors can play within the installation by popping their heads in and out of the openings, and really interact with the setup. For a lot of art pieces, many audience members are encouraged to stand back and view from a distance, but Kotaro Horiuchi wants the opposite. If people come in and get lost in the perforated structure, then they are able to experience the art in a completely different way. The spaces are even meant to suggest a different approach to things like gathering areas.
