Insect-Friendly Houses

Kioyaki Takeda Architects Have Built a House That Houses All Life Forms

Kioyaki Takeda Architects have completed a home design in Japan that attempts to support all living beings - humans, animals, insects.

Tsuruoka House follows none of the traditional architectural principles. The architects blended the traditionally separated spaces - gardens and houses - in order to enforce a strong relationship between humans and nature.

Mini gardens are found throughout the interior of the home and were designed using a specific thickness of soil that would attract different forms of life. The home was even completed with a rainwater draining system that would support the living beings found in the gardens.

All in all, Tsuruoka House redefines the relationship between the environment and design by fusing the two in a distinctive way.
