The Kilmory House by Jillian Dinkel transforms a 1913 Arts and Crafts estate into a modern entertaining home by re-imagining the original building’s role and layout for contemporary living. The renovation leaves the outside facade intact while reworking the interior floor plan to create a grand dining hall, commercial-grade kitchen and flexible spaces that encourage gathering. Previously service-oriented rooms were repurposed into a wellness studio, playroom and art space to suit a more social second home. Traditional materials such as steel, stone and hand-applied wall finishes are used alongside custom joinery to combine craftsmanship with comfortable living.
Throughout the project, rich textures and refined proportions guide the design language from one space to the next. The restrained palette, careful detailing and updated programme ensure the home remains rooted in heritage while supporting a lively and modern lifestyle.
