Trunk-Inspired Retail Expansions

Moynat Opens Its First Italian Boutique & Celebrates It in Style

Moynat recently announced the opening of its first Italian boutique at 3 Via Monte Napoleone in Milan, a 16th-century palazzo within the Quadrilatero della Moda. This venture marks a strategic expansion for the trunk-making house, which dates back to 1849, and has "around 30 flagships and exclusive boutiques across a dozen countries."

In order to celebrate the launch of its first Italian boutique, Moynat commissioned designers Hall Haus, Marianna Ladreyt, and Michael Samuels to create contemporary trunk interpretations. The resulting artworks included Hall Haus speaker tower inspired by Limousine trunks, Marianna Ladreyt’s modular Parkour installation of foam blocks sheathed in upcycled inflatable materials, and Michael Samuels' monumental sculptures combining storage trunks from museums with Bauhaus furniture. The projects were strategically conceived to coincide with Milan Design Week.
